03 Sep Your Intelligence is No Longer the Most Important Thing in A Workplace
When we think of success, it is easy to align it with intelligence. However, it is found through new research that your attitude may be a better predictor of your success, rather than your IQ.
Why’s this?
Simply, because it is found that an individual’s core attitudes fall into one of two categories: A fixed mindset or a growth mindset.
A fixed mindset refers to those with the mindset of “you are who you are, and you cannot change.” This type of mindset and way of thinking facilitates challenges, because if you are presented with anything that appears out of your comfort zone, or seems more than what you can handle, then you are bound to feel hopeless and overwhelmed.
Those with a growth mindset have the idea that they can improve with efforts. Often, those with a growth mindset outperform the individuals with a fixed mindset, even if they have a lower IQ. This is simply because they embrace challenges and treat problems as opportunities to grow and learn.
According to psychologists, Carol Dweck, “Success in life is all about how you deal with failure.”
With the growth mindset, any challenge or setback of failure is a lesson to be learnt rather than a defeat. No matter the IQ level you bring to your working environment, it is your attitude that is the make or breaks for the success of your business.
